A US senator becomes depressed and disillusioned with his double-dealing career and sham marriage, so arranges to have himself assassinated - a shocking move which gives him a new sense of freedom and prompts him to tell his constituents the truth about life in the political arena. As he comes to enjoy his newfound notoriety, he decides life may be worth living after all - but faces a race to escape his own hitman.
