The story of Edna Gladney, whose loss of her only child and a sister in tragic circumstances inspired her to establish a home for unwanted and orphaned children in early 20th-century Texas. After finding homes for thousands of children, she went on to fight the stigma of illegitimacy and have the term erased from birth records.
