Naive sea captain Gregory Peck learns a harsh lesson in the ways of cowboys as he gets embroiled in a family feud. Tensions are running high between his future father-in-law and a hillbilly clan over the thorny issue of water rights - but they're disappointed that the newcomer wants to avoid trouble.
