The Bible... In the Beginning

Oscar-winning director John Huston's epic re-telling of the Book of Genesis, chronicling the stories of Adam and Eve, Noah and the flood and Abraham and Isaac. The late Richard Harris stars as murderous Cain, with Peter O'Toole, Michael Parks, Ava Gardner and George C Scott. Huston himself gained something of a messiah complex making the film, casting himself as the voice of God : not to mention the voice of temptation. Producer Dino de Laurentiis originally envisioned a series of films covering both Old and New Testaments entirely, but Huston was the only director prepared to even consider such a mammoth task, and after this lavish 1966 offering, production ground to a halt
