Being There

Peter Sellers puts in an award-winning performance as Chance, an unworldly gardener who has spent his life within the walls of the property he tends. When his master dies, though, he finds himself ejected into the big bad world. By good misfortune, he's soon taken in by a kindly businessman and his wife and finds his simplistic view of life makes him a celebrity in political circles. A very polished comedy, based on Jerry Kosinski's novel (he also wrote the screenplay). Shirley MacLaine, Melvyn Douglas and Richard Dysart co-star.
