A feud erupts in violence, leaving the eldest son of one clan facing the daunting prospect of having to murder one of his peers. As he waits the traditional one month before carrying out the killing, he is distracted from his troubles by the appearance of a travelling circus - and realises they could offer him a way out of his macabre duty.
