An intimate portrait of a group of pioneering artists, including impresarios Wassily de Basil and Rene Blum and choreographers George Balanchine and Leonide Massine, who fled Russia after the Revolution and established the Ballet Russe of Monte Carlo, an institution which transformed modern ballet. Home movies, rare performances and interviews are used trace their history and professional rivalries from 1909 to the 1960s.
