Synopsis:
Gritty understated Western, starring Suzy Amis as a woman rejected by her family after giving birth to an illegitimate child. Realising the world she lives in is a dangerous one for a lone woman, she disguises herself as a man in order to survive, a pretence she keeps up for 30 years as she makes a new home for herself in a dingy mining town. Amis is utterly convincing in the demanding lead role, with impressive support from Ian McKellen and Bo Hopkins
