American football star Dennis Quaid is dropped from his team due to injury, but his replacement takes the squad to new heights - making veteran coach Al Pacino realise he's getting out of touch with the new generation of players entering the game. Oliver Stone's epic drama sometimes drags, but his confident directorial style means the pace doesn't let up for long. Cameron Diaz, James Woods, Jamie Foxx, LL Cool J and Matthew Modine co-star. Watch out for Stone's cameo appearance as a sports commentator
