Movie (2002)
Warm rites-of-passage comedy drama following the cross-cultural friendship between adolescent girls Chandeep Uppal and Anna Brewster in the 1970s, as one struggles to deal with insidious racism and her overbearing parents, and the other tries to cope with a broken home. Based on the novel by Meera Syal, who also wrote the screenplay and adds her name to the strong supporting cast, which includes Max Beesley, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Kathy Burke, Lynn Redgrave and Ayesha Dharker
