Kirstie Alley stars as Byrdie Langdon, a middle-aged screenwriter in an industry that favours youth. Tired of being ignored by her agent, Byrdie hatches a plan to revive her flagging career - she produces a new script, and enlists the help of her attractive young nephew to pitch the ideas as his own. The scheme is successful, allowing Byrdie to revel in the knowledge that her work is still top-notch, but she struggles to keep up the pretence while someone else takes credit for her writing.
