Robert De Niro makes one of his most successful forays into comedy, playing a stressed mob boss plagued by anxiety attacks that leave him unable to kill people. When a car crash brings him into contact with stressed psychiatrist Billy Crystal, he thinks he's found the solution to his problems. But the horrified shrink is reluctant to be drawn into the world of organised crime - especially when the gangster starts intruding on his personal life and the FBI try to recruit him as a mole.
