Movie (1997)
An embittered doctor recounts the sad story of a lonely servant girl living in a small farming community in 19th-century Cornwall, who falls deeply in love with a shipwrecked Russian sailor. However, the relationship seems doomed to failure from the start, despite their best efforts to make it work. Downbeat romantic drama based on a short story by Joseph Conrad, boasting a star-studded cast including Vincent Pérez, Rachel Weisz, The Lord of the Rings' Ian McKellen, Kathy Bates, Joss Ackland, Tony Haygarth and Zoë Wanamaker. Sadly, even the big names can't prevent it becoming an overly maudlin affair
