Movie (1960)
Dramatic and sprawling epic adventure reconstructing the famous battle. As a 7,000-strong Mexican army, led by General Santa Anna, sweeps across Texas, no force seems available to stop him. Colonel William Travis is given the task of drawing the invading forces by making a desperate last stand at the Alamo Mission in San Antonio, giving his superior officers time to assemble their counterattack. John Wayne, who also made his directorial debut behind the camera, stars as legendary frontiersman Davy Crockett, who reinforces the heavily outnumbered band of volunteers fighting for independence.
