A lawyer in medieval France tires of the sophisticated cynicism of urban life and decides to make a fresh start in the country. When he ends up drawn into a murder trial where the defendant is a pig, he is dismissive of what he sees as peasant superstition - only to find there is more to the seemingly absurd case than expected.
