An American soldier opts to stay in Malaya following World War Two, and buys a plantation. However, events take a complicated turn due to romantic problems - and his conscience is tested by the discovery that a former wartime comrade is running a terrorist unit. Dreary drama with little to recommend it - even William Holden struggles to raise the energy to simply go through the motions. Susannah York and Tetsuro Tamba also appear
