But when they arrive at the fabled lost city the seafarers cannot believe their eyes as a giant ape whisks away their leading lady - setting the scene for a daring rescue across an uncharted island full of all manner of nasty creatures, while the titular gorilla gets acquainted with his new lady friend. Peter Jackson's epic fantasy adventure remains loyal to the 1933 classic and features some breathtaking CGI effects, not least Kong itself, brought to life by the same motion-capture method that the director and actor Andy Serkis used to create Lord of the Rings' Gollum. Adrien Brody, Thomas Kretschmann and Jamie Bell co-star.
