      The Fantastic Mr. Fox

Wes Anderson directs a stop-motion animation re-telling of the classic Roald Dahl story, starring the voice talent of George Clooney in the title role. Meryl Streep, Jason Schwartzman, Bill Murray, Willem Dafoe, Michael Gambon and Owen Wilson also lend their voices to various characters.

    • 1:30pm

Powerful and disturbing drama chronicling a teenage girl's descent into a world of drug-taking, sexual experimentation and crime. Her helpless mother struggles to cope with her nightmarish behaviour, unable to steer her back onto the straight and narrow. The stark portrayal of adolescence may be too much for sensitive viewers to bear, but provides a valuable insight into the troubles often associated with growing up. Holly Hunter, Evan Rachel Wood and Nikki Reed star.

    • 3:45pm
      A League of Their Own

Emotional comedy drama, based on a true story about an all-female baseball team and their alcoholic, tobacco-chewing coach, following the girls as they battle in-field as well as with each other. Tom Hanks heads a great cast, also including Geena Davis, Lori Petty, Rosie O'Donnell and Madonna. Penny Marshall directs with flair, although the last five minutes could have been removed on grounds of excessive sentimentality

    • 6:45pm
      16 Candles

A teenager's parents forget her birthday, so she tries to get over her disappointment by searching for the man of her dreams, unaware she's looking in the wrong place. John Hughes' middling comedy drama, starring Molly Ringwald, Justin Henry and Anthony Michael Hall

    • 8:45pm
      The Breakfast Club

Comedy drama about a group of youngsters who 'find themselves' during a Saturday morning school detention. A lot of soul-searching and fraught teenage angst doesn't usually make a satisfying movie, but the engaging performances of Emilio Estevez, Judd Nelson and Molly Ringwald, plus the inclusion of Simple Minds' theme tune Don't You (Forget About Me), make this worth watching. Anthony Michael Hall, Ally Sheedy, Paul Gleason and John Kapelos co-star.

    • 11:00pm
      Uncle Buck

John Candy stars as an unreliable but good-natured slob called upon to look after his trouble-making nephew and nieces while their parents are away - and what starts as a disaster soon changes for the better as the unlikely babysitter gets to grips with the finer points of the job. Endearing family comedy, also starring Macaulay Culkin, Jean Kelly, Gaby Hoffmannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn, Amy Madigan and Laurie Metcalf. Written and directed by John Hughes
