Die HardNew York cop Bruce Willis tackles ruthless criminals who've taken over a skyscraper, waging a deadly war of attrition against ringleader Alan Rickman and his gang, armed only with his wits, steely determination and a white vest - until he gets hold of a gun and some explosives, which is when the party really gets started. Breathless, violent action thriller which made Willis's reputation as a movie tough guy and boasts unforgettable one-liners and stunt sequences. Rickman is fantastic as the cold, calculating villain, while Bonnie Bedelia, Alexander Godunov, Reginald VelJohnson and Hart Bochner offer decent support.

Die Hard with a Vengeance
Bruce Willis returns for his third outing as John McClane, this time engaged in a deadly game of cat and mouse with a mysterious bomber terrorising New York. Booted off the force for drinking, McClane is called back to duty when an explosion goes off in the city, followed by an anonymous phone call from the perpetrator, demanding he carry out a series of instructions - with another bomb going off every time he fails. Samuel L Jackson plays the enraged shopkeeper who becomes the maverick cop's unlikely ally, while Jeremy Irons is the villain who, as the title suggests, has a score to settle with the hero.
