      The Claim

      Nineteenth-century prospector Daniel Dillon, who gained great power by exchanging his wife and daughter for the rights to a gold mine, finds his sins coming back to haunt him 20 years later when a mysterious woman appears in his life. Further complications arise after a surveyor shares his plans to build a railway line through the town, threatening Daniel's control of the residents. Taut period drama, loosely based on Thomas Hardy's The Mayor of Casterbridge, with a top-drawer cast including Peter Mullan, Milla Jovovich, Wes Bentley and Nastassja Kinski.
