However, he is lured out of retirement when a demented murderer begins slaughtering entire families every full moon, forcing Graham to seek the imprisoned cannibal's expertise. Adapted from the first, and arguably best, of Thomas Harris' novels to feature Lecter, this effective chiller may not be in the same league as The Silence of the Lambs, but it does boast a top-notch cast, from Ralph Fiennes' creepy yet tragic killer to Philip Seymour Hoffman's sleazy tabloid hack.

Updated musical version of Romeo and Juliet by Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim, set in Fifties New York, where Natalie Wood's dangerous romance with Richard Beymer causes the already simmering tensions between rival street gangs the Jets and the Sharks to explode. One of the most successful films of all time, scooping a richly deserved 10 Academy Awards at the 1962 ceremony, and also starring Russ Tamblyn, Rita Moreno and George Chakiris in supporting roles. The film was faithfully adapted from the hugely popular stage play, not only retaining the vast majority of the script and songs, but even using much of the same incredibly complex choreography, making it a real cinematic spectacle
