ET: The Extra-Terrestrial
Steven Spielberg's delightful fantasy loses none of its charm on the small screen. For the uninitiated, it tells the tale of a lonely boy (Henry Thomas) befriended by a stranded alien. He's drawn into all manner of adventures as he and his friends attempt to return the creature to its home. This was the most lucrative film of all time (until Jurassic Park came along) and despite all the usual Spielberg trademarks - kids in suburbia, flashing lights, special effects - it's a real film from the heart. John Williams' outstanding soundtrack never fails to move, especially in the bike ride across the moon sequence. Look out for Drew Barrymore as the wide-eyed GertieLike this in this list? 14 up0 down -

Raiders of the Lost Ark
Relentlessly exciting, Oscar-winning Steven Spielberg adventure, starring Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones in the first outing for the swashbuckling archaeologist. Here he's caught up in a series of hair-raising cliffhanger scrapes in the Middle East, risking life and limb to prevent the biblical Ark of the Covenant from falling into the hands of dastardly Nazis who will stop at nothing to claim it for themselves. With Karen Allen, Denholm Elliott, John Rhys-Davies and Alfred Molina. Brilliant, witty and great fun for audiences of all ages.Like this in this list? 15 up0 down -
Jurassic Park
Steven Spielberg's blockbuster, with Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum among the scientists given a sneak preview of a new dinosaur theme park - but it all goes wrong when the main attractions go on the rampage and start to eat the visitors. That all takes second place to the real stars - computer-generated and animatronic dinosaurs which set a new standard in special effects. With Richard Attenborough.Like this in this list? 20 up0 down -
