The Shortlists Challenge is over! Thank you for all the entries. It certainly made life tough for the judging panel, with so many good submissions. The top prize that was up for grabs was a whole year's worth of movie theater tickets! The winning entry needed to have received the most thumbs up and comments. Best TV and Movie Theme Tunes

I remember, not so long ago, when the most memorable part of a cinematic experience used to be the musical theme -- introduced within the opening credits and then shamelessly lacquered on for dramatic effect throughout the production. If you think of 2001: A Space Odyssey, your mind is immediately filled with the ominous pedal and climb of Richard Strauss's "Thus Spoke Zarathustra". My perception of The Great Escape is as a masterpiece comprising 25% snare-drum, 25% flute, 25% staccato tuba and 25% Steve McQueen.
