"Hey girl, whatcha doin'? Hey girl, where ya goin'? Who's that girl? Who's that girl? It's Jess." Theme song lyrics like the above make even the Gilligan's Island set-up seem pretty deep. But by now, many viewers know where they're coming from. Namely from the surprise hottest new series of the infant fall season -- Fox's New Girl. Starring Zooey Deschanel in the adorable/"adorkable" title role, New Girl had more advertiser-craved 18-to-49-year-old viewers for its first episode than either The X Factor or Terra Nova, both of which are far more expensive and received perhaps 10 times the promotion from Fox.
