Best On-Screen Presidents

by on July 2nd 2014 at 2:22 pm

Celebrate Independence Day by taking a look at the best fictional presidents, from the small to the silver screen. Here are my top five:   Morgan Freeman Deep Impact 1998 - President Tom Beck. "Life will go on, we will prevail." Dealing with the end of the world wasn't easy for President Beck, but with Freeman in the role there was still hope for humanity. As demonstrated in this delightful speech to the nation.   Jack Nicholson Mars Attacks 1996 - President James Dale. "SHUT UP! SHUT UP! SHUT UP!" One has to accept that in some instances, people and… read more »

Brent Likes: Godzilla (2014)

After hearing mixed reviews for the latest production of the classic lizard-like monster Godzilla, I was determined to make my own decision and check it out at the cinemas, instead of waiting for the DVD, which was my initial plan. I'm certainly glad that I made that decision, because I thought it was great! Our synopsis for this latest retelling, starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Bryan Cranston and Elizabeth Olsen, suggests a slightly different spin on the world famous fictional creature: "Godzilla fights malevolent creatures that threaten humanity." That's right, Godzilla is the good guy! Now, I'm not old enough to remember… read more »

Ten years ago today the movie Shrek 2 was released in movie theatres. The animated comedy which featured the voices of Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, Eddie Murphy and Julie Andrews was much anticipated by audiences young and old, but who knew just how big a hit it would be? Joining it in the top five are Toy Story 3, Frozen, Finding Nemo and Despicable Me 2, all of which are great films but found it hard to beat the Shrek sequel. To celebrate… read more »
