Brent Likes: Non-Stop

Non-Stop is another action thriller starring the tenacious Liam Neeson, performing some superhuman stunts 35,000 feet in the air to save himself and his passengers, amidst tough-guy movie cliches. On a whim, I stopped into the cinema with some friends to watch Liam Neeson's 'Non-stop', a film I'd already decided to ignore after seeing the trailer (which gave away a fair portion of the film). I scoffed at the first few rushed scenes, showing Neeson's character, Bill Marks an air marshal, sitting in his truck sneaking a few drinks before work and staring at pictures of his family. I thought,… read more »

It's an exciting time for television. There seems to have been a shift in the importance placed on television dramas and movies - the very best actors are migrating from the big to the small screen. Although these A grade stars might not linger on the small screen for too long or act in that realm exclusively, the phenomena is certainly an exciting prospect for viewers. 'Making it' onto the big screen seems less important now with the influx of quality television being readily available online through 'catch up websites'. Sex and the City: 10 Things You Didn't Know

Saturday, February 22 2014 marks 10 years since the fabulous series Sex and the City came to an end. How time flies, right?! This was a show brought to life by Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis and it achieved big things because every girl could relate to it. Okay, so we may not be super successful, own expensive shoes and attend swanky bar openings every week, but we can relate to each character and what they face when it comes to relationships and love. The final episode itself is full of enough examples; Carrie falls out of love with Aleksandr, Samantha experiences a true and loving relationship, Charlotte finally receives… read more »

monuments men feature

I recently saw The Monuments Men and enjoyed every moment of it, from the first scene to the last, which happened to feature George Clooney's father Nick. The film follows a small group of art specialists into war-torn Europe towards the close of the Second World War, who are charged with finding and recapturing precious works of art stolen by Hitler and the Nazi party, which in some cases are likely to be destroyed. Although the film takes a somewhat lighthearted approach to a rather heavyweight issue - to destroy the culture of a people can effectively erase them from… read more »

Unconventional movies to watch on Valentine's Day

by on February 13th 2014 at 7:28 pm

I am a scrooge, not just at Christmas - most of the 'holidays' we have across the year. There is too much pressure to make everyone happy rather than just relax and enjoy the company of your family and loved ones. Naturally St. Valentine's Day is the worst of them all! I love receiving and giving gifts don't get me wrong, especially flowers (yellow daffodils are my fav!), but to do it as a compulsory action on the same day every year where it's a) expected b) over priced c) unoriginal d) and red roses are so cliché! I guess… read more »
