We all like to see celebrities out of their comfort zone, and what’s a better way than by watching them get hot and sweaty as they run around a baseball field acting goofy and showing off?
Major League Baseball marked the half way point in the season with the unmissable All-Star 2 day event. And possibly for TV fans, the highlight of the event was the Taco Bell All-Star Legends Celebrity game. Sports stars, musicians and familiar TV faces such as Billy Bob Thornton and Andy Richter, clubbed together with old time baseball legends to play a friendly game of softball.
It is probably safe to say that Nelly played the best, by making a beautiful diving catch in the left field and hitting a home run later that inning. I think he deserved the MVP title, don’t you? Jenna Fischer star of The Office put in a decent effort. However, it was Ashanti who let the girls down by losing the game for the American League team, when she started running to second base. Lack of attention got her tagged out to end the game.
But it was clear the celebrities were letting their hair down and having fun, which of course is what it is all about. Actress Annie Wersching, from popular series 24, was seen clowning around during the warm ups and Jon Hamm, star of Mad Men, was ecstatic that he got to fulfil his childhood dream playing baseball. And like true celebrity style they received special treatment. With collapsible fences roughly half way into the outfield it ensured that no harm was caused and no nails were broken.
So with much banter and limited baseball skills, the TV stars entertained us once again. However, I doubt they will be signing up to play for the Dodgers any time soon. They better not give up their day job!
